It seems to indicate that 88improv’s very own Steve Hydeen is a member of, as his badge reads, the ‘Special Police.’ ...What the heck is the Special Police?

We did some digging and discovered that is a program for guys named Steve...

So I guess we got that figured out.

See you at our next show!

We did it!

For those of you loyal fans, you know that since 88improv moved to Omaha in 2003 we have had only 6 total members. Solomon Davis (blue shirt, upper Left) and Corinne Christian (lower Right corner) joined our ranks and each performed with 88 for a while. They have both moved on to the Pacific Northwest where we met up with them for a “Reunion Show” at the Unexpected Productions Improv in Seattle!

(See the Pics)

A special thanks to Randy Dixon for making room for us on his stage! And a very big THANKS to all the performers we played with at Theatresports on Saturday night! You made us feel welcome and funny! There is a lot of talent behind that gummy wall!

The whole weekend was great and performing with our friends Corinne and Solomon on Sunday was like the good old days! Cori and Solomon are sharp performers and have continued their acting carriers in Portland and Seattle respectively. Being on stage with them was easy and nothing but laughs.

Thanks to our dear friends for being seen with us in public and on stage...but more importantly, thank for helping us point out our “88i” Gum Wall addition in the picture above!

For those of you who don’t know, the outside wall of the Unexpected Productions Improv theatre is covered, I mean COVERED in GUM!

It’s crazy.

...and now its been tagged by your very own 88improv (88i). Next time you’re in Seattle, be sure and check out the UP and the gum. You won’t regret either one!

Thanks for coming to see 88improv’s Whatever We Want! Here’s what you saw or missed.

We tried something new to 88. Before the show, we had the audience write down situations that 2 or 3 people might find themselves in. We collected those situations and put them in a bucket on stage. We began the show by pulling out several situations and performing them for 10 seconds, a minute, 5 minuets - whatever, then, on to the next situation. Here’s some of what we did (how we handled it is in parenthesis):

Staring Contest (Tim lost due to his Hot Pocket)
In Line at the Drive Thru (on foot)
Sunday Morning and Still Drunk (including the pastor)
Calling Tech Support (American’s talking with foreign accents)
Getting Braces Caught While Kissing (Steve and Tim)
A Bus Ride (Tall guy or short hand bar)
Fertility Doctor Telling a Woman She’s Pregnant with the Wrong Baby (You have triplets...two are yours...one looks like Fozzie Bear!)
Eating the Same Piece of Spaghetti AKA Two People Caught on the Ends of a Noodle (Steve and Tim...Again)
Riding Through the Desert on a Horse with No Name (Tim’s Horse = Galaxy, Sarah’s Horse = Twizzle, Steve’s = ?)
Getting Stuck on an El-a-lator (Actually Escalator but Tim can’t read)
2 Men on a Camel (“Your right. Its better to ride on top of the humps”)
Speed Dating...Only Two People Show Up (Sarah and Steve, Steve and Sarah...No, back to Sarah and Steve)
Bowling Team (Our three blind daters return for the end of the show)

After several of the above situations were played out in short scenes, we eventually stayed with three person blind date. They sort of hit it off and decided to keep dating (as a threesome). From there we found the Tech Support guys who screwed with the calls by adapting foreign accents. They did a little Russian, Cockney and ended up with Minnesotan when the “Ghost of Christmas Future” called to predict that they would...BOTH...LOOSE THEIR PANTS....WHICH IS A METAPHOR...FOR LOOSING THIER HAIR!!!

In the end, we joined a Bowling Team made up of the three blind daters, several months down the road. The third-wheel proposed to the other two but was blindsided by the announcement that they had already married. He tried to play if all off as a joke but they asked him to still be their friend, to which he replied that he had always had trouble making friends since he looked like Fozzie Bear.

Strange...? Yes. Fun...? You decide.

What did you think of our format? Should we do it again sometime?

Add your “Comment!” You don’t even have to leave your email or real name...in fact its kind of fun to come up with a fake name to leave in the Comment. See you next time!

Becky and her new boy friend broke into her bank so she could show him around...after all, it was Sunday. Its a good thing that the security guard had disabled the silent alarm and happened to see the broken window on his way to the saloon for his after church beer. He and Becky decided they couldn’t blame the broken window on a wolf that was thrown into the window after being hit by a truck so they decided to tell people it was a cow. They also decided to collaborate with the boy friend and create a Drama-Comedy-Game Show TV show. The first of its kind!

Meanwhile, the two hamsters who were left in their cage while their trailerhome-owning owners were on vacation, decided to get the garage door opener from off of the refrigerator (enter the cat.) One hamster road the cat to the top of the fridge and the other bated their trap with Fancy Feast. Once the cat was trapped in the hamster cage, the two hamsters hitched the house to the back of the car and drove it to the Mall of America.

Ah the Mall. That’s where Darrel met Samantha, who showed him around and helped him overcome his recent relationship blues. He recorded a couple of country songs, had a few jokes and, as it turns out, was actually one of the Drama-Comedy-Game Show episodes created by Beck, her BF and the old bank security guard.

The hamsters flipped off the TV and dug into their Fancy Feast and hamster pellets. The End.

Good times. Come enjoy the next batch of “What the WHAT??!”
