On October 21, 2005, 88 improv will be hosting a benefit fundraiser for a very special mom with breast cancer. This special event will be held at Grace Reformed church beginning at 7:30 pm. In November 2002, Sharon Smits, mother-in-law to 88 improv’s Steve Hydeen, was diagnosed with breast cancer. After surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, Sharon’s cancer was in remission. She discovered a renewed passion for life and family. However, on July 29, 2005, after struggling with severe headaches, Sharon found out her cancer had returned. Sharon’s breast cancer has now metastasized in her brain. She and her family are working very closely with the Mayo Clinic to fight the cancer. Recently, Sharon completed 3 weeks of full brain radiation. On October 21, 88improv will be performing to raise money to benefit Sharon and her family, to provide support as well as raise money for the ever-increasing cost of cancer treatment. The benefit will be held at Grace Reformed Church, located at 93rd and Fort Street. Doors will open at 6:30pm and the show will begin at 7:30pm. Come and join 88improv for a night of laughter and support for Sharon Smits and her family.
