"Big HA! Silent Film"

The Garage Film Story: In the fall of 2005 88improv began filming Garage Films. The fast-paced filming process is unique because it helps keep the “improv feel” in a movie format. Each 88improv team member takes 20 minutes to direct their Garage Film while the rest of the team rotates between the duties of scene manager, cinematographer and actors. When 20 minutes is up, everybody switches roles and the next Garage film is underway. It takes about 2 hours to film five Garage Films.

The next step is editing. The raw footage is handed over to the Editor to be pieced together. In much the same way, the editing is done quickly with only a few notes from the Director. Once it is all put together it appears here at 88improv for you to laugh at and enjoy. (HELP WANTED: 88 improv is always looking for guest Editors to help complete the film making process, if you know how to take raw footage from a mini-dv and turn it into an edited film, let us know.)
